Loss of Consortium
A Grady Kessler Legal Thriller
Forthcoming 2027
Grady Kessler is a Florida malpractice lawyer recently returned to practice after a two-year suspension for something he didn’t do. He’s broke, drinking too much, and living on a houseboat docked in a Sanford marina when a referral lands on his desk: a wife who claims she was never warned not to press her husband’s morphine pump button. The hospital says she was warned. There’s no other evidence either way.
The defense lawyer is the same man who took Grady down the first time.
Grady takes the case because he needs the money and because he believes the wife. Then the defense begins disclosing things he never asked for — domestic violence police reports, a punitive prenup, a homicide detective’s witness statement. The wife is not quite who she said she was. By the time Grady understands that, he has already crossed a line for her — and he can’t uncross it.
Loss of Consortium is a legal thriller about the cost of winning, the comfort of belief, and what a lawyer chooses to do when he finally sees clearly. Introducing Grady Kessler.
